Dr. Joe Guiles to present poster on peptide-drug conjugate manufacturing considerations at TIDES Meeting
Dr. Joe Guiles, Vice President and General Manager at Cedarburg Hauser Pharmaceuticals, will be presenting a poster titled “Current Peptide-Drug Conjugates & Early Stage Manufacturing Considerations” at TIDES: Oligonucleotide & Peptide Research, Technology & Product Development, held in Las Vegas, NV, May 20-23. This is the latest in a series of informational pieces that Cedarburg Hauser has developed on peptide-drug conjugates.
In addition to the TIDES poster, Cedarburg Hauser has published an article in the May issue of Specialty Chemical Magazine on the topic. The article, titled “Peptide-drug conjugates: Types, utility & manufacturing” looks at the composition, chemical assembly and manufacturing challenges of these exciting pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Joseph Guiles Named General Manager of INB Hauser Pharmaceutical Services
Cedarburg Hauser Pharmaceuticals has continued to strengthen its senior management by adding Joseph Guiles, PhD as the new General Manager of INB Hauser Pharmaceutical Services located in Denver, Colorado.
“Our mission is to be a trusted supplier and valuable advisor to our clients in the areas of early stage drug/API development and manufacturing,” said Tony Laughrey, President & CEO of Cedarburg Hauser Pharmaceuticals. “In order to meet the diverse needs of our clients it is vitally important that we have senior leadership that not only understands what is important to all sizes of pharmaceutical companies, but have also walked in their shoes.”
With the addition of Dr. Guiles, Cedarburg Hauser has done exactly that. He has been very successful throughout his career in big pharma, medium pharma and small/start-up pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Guiles is an accomplished medicinal chemist having designed three separate agents that have entered human clinical study. He has been involved in driving several products to IND and NDA development stage and he truly understands what Cedarburg Hauser’s clients are up against at every stage of their compound’s development.
“Dr. Guiles has been in our client’s position and therefore understands what they need from their development and manufacturing partners,” said Chuck Boland, Executive Vice President of Cedarburg Hauser, “and that will help us continue to provide the services they need to be successful.”

Joseph Guiles, PhD, is a 20 year bioscience veteran in which 18 years were spent in private sector pharmaceutical or biotech startups both in Colorado and New Jersey. His past employers include Sanofi-Aventis, Johnson & Johnson, Sterling-Winthrop and Replidyne. He has directed pharmaceutical R&D, QC, manufacturing and supply chain management operations.
Joe comes to Cedarburg Hauser Pharmaceuticals from MicroRX at CSU Ventures in Fort Collins, Colorado where he was the Executive Director and co-founded two bioscience startup companies. He also co-founded the Colorado Center for Drug Discovery (C2D2), a new initiative to enhance drug discovery capability in Colorado’s public sector.
Joe earned his PhD in chemistry at Colorado State University. His expertise as a organic chemist has been recognized with 25 published research papers, has given numerous seminars and lectures, and has 12 issued patents.

CEDARBURG PHARMACEUTICALS ACQUIRES HAUSER PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES
Acquisition creates a leader in Contract Development and Manufacturing
Grafton, WI. (March 17, 2009) – Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (“Cedarburg”) -- a privately owned chemistry-based Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (“CDMO”) specializing in the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s) and key intermediates for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries announced today its acquisition of InB: Hauser Pharmaceutical Services (“Hauser”). The acquisition further strengthens Cedarburg’s position as a leader in the rapidly growing CDMO market and leverages the trusted reputation and synergistic capabilities of both companies to offer clients a more fully-integrated manufacturing platform strategically focused on helping client’s move new chemical entities (NCE’s) to market.
Hauser’s expertise in natural products, isolation/ purification and cGMP manufacturing augment Cedarburg’s synthetic chemistry and cGMP manufacturing expertise and effectively broadens the overall service capabilities offered to clients.
