CHEMIST OPERATOR
Job Summary: Chemist Operator is a member of the Production Division of Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Inc. It is the responsibility of Production to produce product in accordance with documentation, cGMP procedures and Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Inc Standard Operating Procedures. This includes but is not limited to laboratory scale and commercial scale synthesis.
Skills / Experience:
- Ability to interpret routine communication with some ability to analyze verbal information and comfortable communicating in English
- Ability to utilize routine numerical information and occasionally required to perform more complex calculations
- Familiar with routine chemistry techniques
- Familiar with production equipment and utilizes this equipment to carry out their work. Motivated by hands-on aspect of industry and mechanical interests
- Good understanding of the theory underlying the methods they have mastered
- Ability to maintain effective time management skills when making decisions
- This is an entry level position requiring a BS degree or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to accomplish the following:
- Lift at least 80 pounds of distributed weight from the floor to chest level
- Carry at least 50 pound loads up and down stairs and charge them into a reactor
- Apply 100 pounds of torque to a bolt with a torque wrench; use utility knives and tools
- Carry portable equipment at least 100 feet
- Move a drum of solvent not exceeding 900 pounds with the aid of a drum cart
Impact / Level of Responsibility:
- Conduct synthesis in pilot plant equipment as proscribed in the master batch records
- Able to ascertain and react to dangerous conditions and understand chemical processes
- Assist in laboratory scale synthesis projects as directed following written procedures
- Adheres to and documents all production activities according to cGMP procedures and guidelines of Cedarburg Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as outlined in Cedarburg Pharmaceutical, Inc. Standard Operating Procedures, updates, and as directed by supervisor
- Maintains clean, uncluttered, organized production facility, and equipment, completing cleaning and logbook entries in accordance with Cedarburg Pharmaceutical, Inc. Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines
- Anticipates potential problems with supplies or equipment and proactively initiates actions to prevent those problems
- Responsible for participating in continued training and ongoing education about Company policy and cGMP procedures through company provided and individual initiative
- Responsible for own safety as well as that of coworkers. This includes wearing Company approved clothing, safety glasses, shoes, respirator and any other safety equipment specified by the Company. Actively participates in required safety training. Participates as member of safety committees as assigned.
Complexity of Interactions:
Daily contacts are primarily with their shift supervisor and production group or project team. Directly responsible to the Shift Supervisor.
Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to actively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary production team.
